Last Friday, Stewart Gardiner came to Ayalde to talk about what is happening with the Syrian refuges in Europe. It was a very interesting talk which revealed us the real problem of these refugees nowadays.
Mr Gardiner remarked upon the situation of these families: 11 million people who are being displaced and looking for a new home, as theirs has been destroyed during the Syrian war. In fact, he underlined the problem of the children, who get lost and do not know where to go. They are forced to go for an endless walk of about 2 or 3 months . A walk full of obstacles, such as the fence built in Hungary and the xenophobia of some europeans.
It is also worth mentioning that many of these countries do not have enough money to maintain them. Nevertheless, Germany is not one of these, and it is helping them to carry on with their lives by offering work and places to live.
Unfortunately, winter is coming and consequently, many of the refugees may even die while looking for help.
To conclude, Mr Gardiner remained us that this problem is not so far away so we will have to cope with it very shortly, Thus, we have to react. We must collaborate as much as we can, by accepting them as there will be about 20000 Syrian refugees coming to Spain during the forthcoming months.
