On November 13th, some of the MUN Impact students and the MUN Bilbao Director, Nicola Dignum, have been to a meeting sponsored by the radio channel SER and hosted by Deusto University, at the CRAI library, in order to push the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to follow Agenda 2030 in Bizkaia.
The meeting was really interesting as the speakers were professional individuals of our society, and included:
José María Guibert, the Rector of Deusto University
Leyre Madariaga, the Director of the Foreign Office of the Basque Government
Alejandro Martinez Berriochoa, the Director of Health, Sustainability and Quality at Eroski
Teresa Laespada from the Diputación de Bizkaia
Pedro Barreiro, the Director of Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium
Gemma Miró, the representative for Social Responsibility at CaixaBank
Gotzone Sagardui from Bilbao Town Hall
Begoña Marañón, the Regional Director from Cadena SER
During the meeting, we have had the opportunity to appreciate how our government is cooperating with the United Nations’ purposes for 2030, and how there is the need of spreading awareness and turning our words into actions before it is too late. That was the message transmitted to us today.
Besides, it is incredible the great amount of projects and plans the government and all the relevant institutions in our society have been arranging since 2016, when it all began in the Basque Country.
Last but not least, at the end of the meeting we have been able to introduce our MUN Impact club and its purpose to all these professionals. Finally, awareness is vital, but awareness of the youth sector is essential. We believe that fulfilling the goals of Agenda 2030 will require constant effort and, especially, the help of youngsters who will be the following professionals in a near future.
That is why we are really grateful for the perseverance of the Government of the Basque Country, shown today at Deusto University.
