In order to help achieve the sustainable development goal number 14 “Life Below Water”, we came up with the idea of organising a Beach Cleanup in our town.
When contacting Getxo’s town hall in order to get the necessary licences for the event, they told us that ACIE, an association of language schools, was also planning a similar event. We contacted them and we finally organised a joint event so that we could reach more people between us.
First, we prepared a poster at school to encourage the people to come to the Beach Cleaning. The Saturday 4 May at 11am, the people started arriving to the beach. Everyone was excited and ready to help. During the whole morning, 600 people attended this event and we collected 850 kg of plastic and about 1500 kg of other rubbish. At the end, MUN Impact students gave a brief speech about the SDGs and finally they thanked everyone who spent their morning helping our planet.
