This year, a group of Ayalde students embarked on an unforgettable journey to Dublin, Ireland, for a five-week immersion in both the English language and Irish culture. This annual program, which has become a tradition for the school, offers students a chance to expand their horizons, not only academically but also on a personal level, as they engage with new experiences and perspectives.
Living the irish way
One of the most enriching aspects of this program is the opportunity for students to stay with local Irish families. This unique arrangement allows them to fully immerse themselves in the day-to-day life of their host country. From sharing traditional meals to participating in family traditions, students gain a deep understanding of Irish customs, culture, and lifestyle.
Exploring Dublin’s highlights
Beyond the classroom, the students had the chance to explore some of Dublin’s most iconic sites. Their itinerary included visits to historical landmarks and cultural hubs such as Phoenix Park, one of the largest city parks in Europe, and the impressive Malahide Castle, with its rich 800-year history. They also toured the prestigious Trinity College, famous for its ancient library and the Book of Kells. Strolling along the vibrant Grafton Street, the students experienced the bustling heart of Dublin, with its lively street performers and array of shops.
A special visit from Eloy Olabarri
This year, the program was made even more special with a visit from Eloy Olabarri, the director of Ayalde-Munabe. His presence was a proud moment for the students, as he took the time to meet with them, witness their progress, and share in the excitement of their adventures. His visit underscored the importance that the school places on these international experiences, highlighting the value of learning beyond the classroom walls.
An experience to remenber
For the students of Ayalde, this trip to Ireland was more than just a language course; it was a transformative journey that broadened their minds and deepened their appreciation for different cultures. They returned home not only with improved English skills but also with memories of new friendships, cultural discoveries, and the confidence that comes from stepping out of their comfort zone.
