A group of 11 Ayalde students from 4ESO, 1BACH and 2BACH attended CSMUN 2024 from the 11th through the 13th of October. The event was hosted by Campion School of Athens, and it involved a tour on Friday of the Acropolis Museum and monument and a walk through the charming shopping areas of Monastiraki and Plaka neighborhoods. The 2-day conference lasted all day on Saturday and Sunday, the theme being “Industry Sustainability in a World in Crisis,” which addressed climate issues and the ongoing production in polluting industries.
Claudia Villar 2BACH was a delegate for Ecuador on the Security Council. Daniel Martinez, Irene Hernandez, and Rebeca Culla of 1BACH were delegates for Croatia, Cameroon, and Ecuador respectively in the World Health Organization. 4ESO students Lorena Piedra and Rocio de Rabago served on the Economic and Social Council. On the Social, Cultural, and Humanitarian Council, affectionately known as SOCHUM, Leire Gomez was delegate of Croatia and Ingrid Vasilache was delegate of Croatia. Both students are in 2BACH. Finally, 4ESO student Martina Crego was a delegate for Ecuador in the Disarmament Council while Maria Crespo and Claudia Calleja, also of 4ESO, were delegates for Croatia and Ecuador respectively in the Economic and Finance committee.
The girls were treated to traditional Greek food and dances and made lasting friendships with students from as far away as Saudi Arabia and as close as Italy. The successful organization of the committees and General Assembly as well as the kind staff and MUN Coordinator, Georgina Theoharopoulou, is reason enough to return to CSMUN next year too.
